2026/127: 1 R2B – Senior Postdoctoral Researcher

Ref. 2026_127

Call for applications for a R2B - Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in the DNA Repair Syndromes and Cancer Predisposition Research Group. Application deadline: 22 September 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

About the Unit / Group

The DNA Repair Syndromes and Cancer Predisposition Research Group, coordinated by Dr Jordi Surrallés, conducts research in the field of human genetic diseases characterized by a high predisposition to cancer.

Many of these syndromes are caused by mutations in genes involved in DNA repair. These genes play an important role in preventing the accumulation of mutations and tumor transformation.

Research into these syndromes is essential to understanding the mechanisms that protect us against cancer.

In recent years, the team has identified and studied new genes involved in these syndromes and has conducted therapeutic research that has led to the designation of orphan medicinal products by the European Medicines Agency.

Researchers in the group also participate in several clinical trials involving gene therapy and drug repurposing, and investigate DNA repair genes involved in these syndromes as therapeutic targets against cancer in the general population.

New strategies are increasingly being developed based on an in-depth understanding of the genetic causes of disease. Therefore, an accurate genetic diagnosis is important not only to provide appropriate genetic counselling and clinical follow-up for patients and their families, but also to provide personalized medicine based on genomic information.
