Brain cholesterol. A great unknown

On Tuesday, October 13, at 6 pm, Maria Borrell, a CIBERCV researcher with the Molecular Pathology and Therapeutics of Atherothrombotic and Ischemic Diseases group at the IR Sant Pau, will give a talk at the Navas Civic Center titled “Brain cholesterol. A great unknown”.
Although we have a fairly good understanding of how the mechanisms that regulate blood cholesterol work, there are still many unanswered questions about how cholesterol is regulated in the brain. This is especially relevant when we consider that about 20% of our body’s total cholesterol is found in the head, where it is essential for neuronal function.
In this talk, we’ll explore the relationship between abnormal cholesterol levels and cognitive decline, and discover how advances in research are helping us better understand these processes.
