The Jané Mateu Foundation Supports Research at IR Sant Pau With a €30,000 Contribution
Research at the Sant Pau Research Institute (IR Sant Pau) has gained new support through a collaboration with the Jané Mateu Foundation, which is contributing €30,000 to support the work of two cancer research groups: Oncogenesis and Antitumor Drugs, led by Dr. Ramon Mangues, and Cancer Epigenetics, led by Dr. Manel Esteller.
The collaboration has been formalized through an agreement signed by IR Sant Pau’s Scientific Director, Dr. Jordi Surrallés, and the Chair of the Jané Mateu Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Joan Jané Mateu. The agreement establishes a framework to support projects carried out by the two groups.
Supporting Two Areas of Cancer Research
The two teams approach cancer from different and complementary perspectives. The Oncogenesis and Antitumor Drugs group works to develop new therapeutic strategies against cancer, while the Cancer Epigenetics group studies the epigenetic mechanisms involved in the development and progression of the disease and seeks to identify new vulnerabilities with therapeutic potential.
The Foundation’s contribution will strengthen both groups’ research activities and support their ongoing projects. The initiative also reflects a shared goal of the two institutions: to promote scientific and medical research and help generate new knowledge that can contribute to improving people’s health and quality of life.
The Jané Mateu Foundation’s mission includes promoting, developing, and advancing scientific, medical, and pharmaceutical research. This collaboration translates that commitment into direct support for the scientific work carried out at the institute.
This contribution marks a first step in the relationship between the Jané Mateu Foundation and IR Sant Pau and opens the door to exploring new forms of collaboration in the future. The aim is for this relationship to continue growing and eventually support other research groups and areas at the institute, gradually broadening the scope of the collaboration.
