About the Unit / Group
The Neuromuscular Diseases Unit is a multidisciplinary unit with extensive experience in the diagnosis, treatment and research of neuromuscular diseases, which may affect the motor neurons of the spinal cord, peripheral nerves, the neuromuscular junction and skeletal muscle.
The Unit brings together clinical activity and research, addressing clinical problems from the laboratory with the aim of identifying new biomarkers and diagnostic tools, studying new pathological mechanisms and developing new therapeutic targets.
The Unit comprises neurology, biology and laboratory professionals with experience in basic and translational research, as well as in the organisation and management of biological sample collections.
The successful candidate will join the myasthenia gravis research line and provide support for the basic organisation and operation of the laboratory.
Essential requirements
- Oral and written knowledge of both official languages of Catalonia. Candidates who do not have the required level must demonstrate or undertake to acquire an adequate command of both official languages of Catalonia within a maximum period of one year.
- Basic knowledge of office software tools —Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.—.
The following will be valued
- Previous experience in basic laboratory organisation tasks.
- Organisational and teamwork skills.
- Responsibility and accuracy in carrying out assigned tasks.
Duties
The successful candidate will perform, among others, the following duties:
- Collection and processing of biological samples.
- Aliquoting of samples and entry of the corresponding information into the database.
- Receipt and processing of orders.
- Filing of delivery notes and other documentation associated with orders.
- Monitoring laboratory material stock.
- Waste management in accordance with the applicable basic safety standards.
- Cleaning and autoclave sterilisation of laboratory material.
- Support with general laboratory organisation and maintenance tasks.
We offer
- Permanent contract linked to the myasthenia gravis research line.
- Annual working time of 1,627.50 hours —37.5 hours per week—.
- Salary in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
- Appointment within the Neuromuscular Diseases Research Group.
