About the Unit / Research Group
The Central Nervous System Autoimmune Neurology Unit of the Neurology Department at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and the Multiple Sclerosis and Autoimmune Diseases of the Central Nervous System Research Group at the Sant Pau Research Institute carry out clinical, teaching and research activities in the field of multiple sclerosis and other inflammatory demyelinating and autoimmune diseases of the central nervous system.
Main research lines:
- Biological and neuroimaging biomarkers for the diagnosis, monitoring and prognosis of multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases of the central nervous system.
- Clinical research projects and clinical trials in multiple sclerosis and related disorders.
- Research into neurological complications associated with immunotherapies, including CAR-T therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors.
- Patient-centred research focused on quality of life, treatment adherence and the development of digital support solutions.
- Translational research in autoimmune neurology within a multidisciplinary environment.
Essential requirements
- Degree in Medicine.
- Specialist qualification in Neurology.
- Oral and written proficiency in the two official languages of Catalonia or, alternatively, commitment to acquire the required level within one year of appointment.
- Advanced level of English.
- Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Desirable qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in multiple sclerosis and autoimmune neurology through participation in research projects, conference presentations or scientific publications.
- Clinical or training experience in specialised multiple sclerosis and autoimmune neurology units, including external rotations at reference centres.
- Experience in clinical database management, structured data collection and basic statistical software.
Main responsibilities
- Participate in a training programme in multiple sclerosis and autoimmune neurological diseases to begin a research career in this field.
- Collaborate as a research trainee in the group's clinical research projects and clinical trials under the supervision of the research team.
- Support the identification, recruitment, follow-up and assessment of patients enrolled in clinical studies.
- Participate in translational research activities and associated laboratory techniques.
- Create, maintain and manage clinical and research databases, ensuring data quality, traceability and confidentiality.
- Perform descriptive and basic statistical analyses and prepare internal monitoring reports.
- Participate in the Unit's clinical and scientific meetings.
- Prepare scientific communications, conference abstracts and manuscripts.
- Attend conferences related to autoimmune neurological diseases.
We offer
- R1A Research Trainee contract linked to the Roche Fellowship for a Clinical Research Fellowship programme.
- Expected duration: 12 months.
- Appointment within the Central Nervous System Autoimmune Neurology Unit and the Multiple Sclerosis and Autoimmune Diseases of the Central Nervous System Research Group at the Sant Pau Research Institute.
- Theoretical and practical training in clinical research on multiple sclerosis, inflammatory demyelinating diseases and autoimmune neurology.
- Participation in competitive research projects, investigator-initiated studies and multicentre clinical trials.
- Regular mentoring and monitoring of the training programme.
- A multidisciplinary, translational environment focused on generating scientific knowledge with clinical impact.
