Call for applications for an R2A – Junior Postdoctoral Researcher position within the SALUTDATA LAB – Health and Data Laboratory. Application deadline: 10 August 2026 at 3:00 p.m.

About the Unit / Group

SALUTDATA LAB – Health and Data Laboratory focuses on generating high-quality science with an impact on public health policies through the advanced use of data. Its main pillars are Epidemiology, Data Science and Implementation Science.

Its activities focus on the study of acute systemic stressors affecting individuals and healthcare systems, addressing urgent challenges arising from climate change and respiratory and emerging infections.

A postdoctoral position is available to join the research group within the framework of the PRISMA-CAT project, funded by Fundació La Marató de TV3 and focused on studying the impact of environmental exposures on respiratory health.

The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and work on the analysis of large volumes of data —big data— to investigate the short-term effects of air pollutants and other environmental factors on the incidence and severity of respiratory diseases, as well as adaptation factors.

Essential requirements

Minimum qualification required: PhD obtained within the last five years.
Oral and written knowledge of both official languages of Catalonia. Candidates who do not meet this requirement must demonstrate or commit to acquiring an adequate command of both official languages of Catalonia within a maximum period of one year.
Advanced level of English.
Advanced knowledge of office software tools —Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.—.

The following will be considered an asset

Previous experience in the field of respiratory diseases, including chronic conditions —such as COPD or asthma— and infectious diseases —such as pneumonia or COVID-19—.
Knowledge of the management and analysis of short-term environmental exposures and their acute effects.
Experience using statistical programming languages, particularly R or Python.
Experience working in high-performance computing environments.

Duties

The selected candidate will participate in the development of the PRISMA-CAT project. Their duties will include, among others:

Applying advanced methodologies for time-series analysis.
Using Distributed Lag Non-Linear Models —DLNM— or other state-of-the-art models applied to the study of environmental exposures.
Designing epidemiological studies on environmental exposures.
Managing, processing and analysing large databases.
Analysing the short-term effects of air pollutants and other environmental factors on respiratory health.

Permanent contract linked to the project Impact of Environmental Exposures on Respiratory Health.
“With the support of Fundació La Marató de TV3.” Grant reference: 202418-30.
Annual working time of 1,627.50 hours —37.5 hours per week—.
Salary in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
Appointment within SALUTDATA LAB – Health and Data Laboratory.
