Call for applications for a T2 – Research Technician position in the Oncogenesis and Antitumorals Research Group. Application deadline: 28 July 2026, at 3:00 p.m.
About the Unit / Research Group
The Oncogenesis and Antitumorals Research Group is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the development and biological validation of novel targeted nanomedicines for cancer treatment. Its main research lines include:
- Development of protein nanoconjugates for the targeted delivery of antitumor drugs or toxins to metastatic cancer stem cells.
- Development of novel animal models of disseminated disease in solid tumors and hematological malignancies for the mechanistic study of metastasis and the preclinical development of new therapies.
- Identification of prognostic biomarkers in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and their functional in vivo validation.
The group is part of the Sant Pau Research Institute (IR Sant Pau), accredited as a Health Research Institute by the Carlos III Health Institute and recognised as a CERCA centre by the Government of Catalonia. It is also a member of the Biomedical Research Networking Centre in Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine (CIBER-BBN, CB06/01/1031) and has been recognised as a Consolidated Research Group by the Government of Catalonia (2021SGR-01140).
Essential requirements
- Minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or an equivalent degree in a related field.
- Oral and written proficiency in both official languages of Catalonia or, alternatively, the selected candidate must demonstrate, or undertake to acquire within a maximum period of one year, an adequate command of both official languages.
- Intermediate level of English.
- Intermediate level of office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Desirable qualifications
- Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Advanced Biotechnology or a related discipline.
- Experience in recombinant protein production and purification.
- Experience in site-directed bioconjugation of drugs to proteins.
- Experience working with siRNAs.
- Experience in tumour cell culture.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques (SDS-PAGE, Western blot, PCR, cloning, etc.).
- Experience in nanoparticle characterisation techniques (DLS, TEM, etc.).
- Experience in flow cytometry.
- Experience using statistical analysis software (GraphPad Prism, SPSS or similar).
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will provide experimental support for the project "CXCR4-Targeted siRNA Therapy against KRAS-driven Colorectal Cancer: A Precision Nanomedicine for Targeted In Vivo Gene Silencing." Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Recombinant production of modular proteins in E. coli.
- Protein purification using IMAC affinity chromatography.
- Conjugation of siRNAs to protein-based nanovehicles.
- Characterisation of nanoparticles and protein nanoconjugates.
- Maintenance of tumour cell lines.
- Performance of MTT assays, bioluminescence assays, SDS-PAGE, Western blot and PCR.
- Maintenance of laboratory records.
- Preparation of routine laboratory solutions and reagents.

- Annual working schedule of 1,627.5 hours (37.5 hours per week).
- Salary according to the applicable collective agreement.
- Appointment within the Oncogenesis and Antitumorals Research Group (GOA).
