Neurological Diseases, Neuroscience and Mental Health

This area encompasses research on neurological, mental and neurological development disorders. These include stroke, neuromuscular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, schizophrenia, depression and chronic pain. A wide variety of techniques in neurosciences are used. Some groups work on the genetic bases of neurological diseases, identification of biomarkers, neuroimaging, neurosurgical methods, deep brain stimulation or omics sciences, while other groups work on pain models, synapse biology or neuropharmacology. In this area, large patient population cohorts with clinical follow-up are analyzed and numerous clinical trials are conducted.
