Gynecologic and Breast Pathology

Gynecological and breast pathologies, both benign and malignant, have a significant impact on women’s health.

An increase in the incidence of certain gynecological and breast cancers is expected, associated with a rise in their environmental risk factors. There is also a growing need to understand and address pathologies that have so far remained invisible, such as uterine myomatosis, endometriosis, or infertility. This context reinforces the importance of promoting specific lines of research, developed in a highly complex hospital environment and carried out by specialists in the care of these patients.

Specialized research will allow the integration of care, teaching, and research with a multidisciplinary and translational perspective, fostering continuous improvement in healthcare and in the generation of knowledge.

Main lines of research

The group’s lines are focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gynecological and breast pathologies, specifically:

  • Gynecological neoplasms: Endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer, breast cancer, and precancerous lesions.

  • Benign pathologies with a high impact on women’s quality of life: Endometriosis, fibroids, chronic pelvic pain, genital prolapse.

  • Gynecological and reproductive endocrinology.
