EPIDEMIOLOGY, PUBLIC HEALTH AND PRIMARY CARE

DataHealth Lab – Data and Health Laboratory

The DataHealth Lab, led by Dr. Otavio Ranzani, is dedicated to advancing high-quality research with direct impact on public health policy through the innovative use of data. The group is grounded in three pillars: Epidemiology, Data Science, and Implementation Science. Its work addresses pressing global health challenges, including climate change, respiratory and emerging infections, critical illness, and antimicrobial resistance.

Main line Research

  • Effects environmental pollutants and extreme temperatures, with a focus on acute exposure mechanisms
  • Epidemiology of post-infectious syndromes and evaluation of vaccine effectiveness
  • Burden of respiratory infections and antimicrobial resistance on health systems
  • Innovation in critical care through clinical trials, telemedicine, and artificial intelligence

Objectives and Strategic Priorities

  • Generate methodologically rigorous and socially relevant evidence
  • Consolidate the group’s leadership and visibility at national and international levels
  • Strengthen collaboration with other research groups at IR Sant Pau
  • Promote open, inclusive, and sustainable science
