ONCOHEMATOLOGIC DISEASES

Gynecologic and Peritoneal Oncology

Main research lines

  • Identify new prognostic biomarkers and new therapeutic targets for risk and therapeutic stratification in endometrial cancer patients
  • Study the effect of the Nervous system in tumor progression and metastasis in gynecological and peritoneal cancers
  • Modeling gynecological and peritoneal cancers in animals to better understand tumor pathophysiology and the use for preclinical drug evaluation.
  • Development of new antitumor drugs, using nanotechnology, in cell lines and animal models for targeted delivery to cancer stem cells (in collaboration with the Oncogenesis and Antitumor Drugs group).

Scientific Challenges

  • Promote clinical and translational research into gynaecological cancers with a very large database and study relevant clinical issues.
  • Obtain funding from FIS, regional authorities and private companies.
  • Enhance cooperation with other clinical and research groups both in Sant Pau and extra-hospital, and attract predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Develop molecular markers for therapeutic decision-making in endometrial cancer patients.
  • Identification and validation of novel therapeutic targets related to neuromodulation in tumour progression of gynaecological cancers.
  • Achieve antitumor and antimetastatic effects by targeting drugs at cancer stem cells in gynaecological and peritoneal cancers.
